Clubs to foot some of the bill for Pairc Tailteann rebuild
CO BOARD
Starting from October, Meath clubs will be contributing financially to the renovation works at Pairc Tailteann after delegates voted in favour of a monthly contribution designed to help finance a €2,000,000 bank loan that the Co Board are seeking which will go towards the construction works on the new stand.
The overall project is set to cost in or around €20,000,000 and there are varied amounts that the clubs will have to pay, dependent on the grade of their highest-ranked adult side.
Clubs with senior teams in either football or hurling will have to contribute €500 a month. Intermediate clubs are set to contribute €400 per month, while Junior clubs will have to contribute €300 per month. The term of the loan and the length of time that Meath clubs will be expected to be making these payments is 20 years.
Speaking about the new contribution scheme, the county chairman Jason Plunkett said that clubs will be able to manage their budget to accommodate the monthly payments.
"We had one or two concerns with different budgets for different clubs, but the same as households have to do, the clubs will manage their budget and make their contribution towards Pairc Tailteann."
