Lenihan inspires St Peter's to FL Div 1 final clash with Dunshaughlin

GAA Other League final spots determined.

St Peter's Dunboyne and Dunshaughlin in clash in the FL Div 1 final at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday (7pm) after both sides emerged victorious from thrilling semi-finals this week.

On Tuesday night St Peter's edged out table toppers Donaghmore/Ashbourne by 1-18 to 3-10 with former Meath star Donal Lenihan helping himself to a dozen points, including five two-pointers.

Victory secured St Peter's place in the final for the 10th time, but they have only won the Mooney Cup once before.

Donaghmore/Ashbourne's Evan Kelly traded goals with new St Peter's recruit from Waterford Jason Gleeson to ensure parity at the break, 1-4 each.

After the resumption goals from Darragh McGovern and Michael O'Sullivan put Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the driving seat, 3-8 to 1-6, but then St Peter's staged a remarkable recovery with Lenihan to the fore and John Harkin kicking the winner late on.

In the second semi-final, unbeaten Dunshaughlin maintained their remarkable run as their first year back in the top flight they sealed tyheir final spot - and all without their Meath stars starting.

Ratoath led 0-8 to 0-6 at the break, and kicked the first three points after the break to go 0-11 to 0-6 ahead but between the 39th and 57th minutes dominant Dunshaughlin hit 11 points in succession with John McDonbagh, Tadhg O Dushlaine, Niall Byrne and Jared Rushe to the fore as the Keegan Cup holders claimed a 0-17 to 0-13 victory.

Ruairi Kinsella and Conor Gray played the last 20 minutes for the winners, while Glen O'Reilly top scored for Ratoath with seven points, including five frees and a two-pointer from play at the end.

In the Div 2 final Trim will meet the winner of tonight's semi-final between O'Mahonys and Moynalvey in Dunsany.

Trim led Simonstown by 1-17 to 1-7 at half time of their semi-final, but had their lead reduced to two before finishing strong to secure promotion and advance.

The Div 2 final will be played Sunday evening at 7pm, venue TBC.

Walterstown saw off Kilbride by a point 2-15 to 2-14 to set up a Div 3 final meeting with Clann na nGael who stunned fancied Ballivor by 2-14 to 0-15 in the other semi-final. The Div 3 final is fixed for 1pm on Saturday at a venue still to be confirmed.

There was no slip up this time from high-flying Castletown as they secured promotion and a place in the FL Div 4 final with a resounding 5-15 to 1-8 win over St Brigid's.

Castletown will face Slane in the decider after the beat Bective by 2-14 to 2-10..
