Lively toe-tapping jive from Laura Colgan released
Dunsany native, Summerhill-based singer Laura Colgan is a seasoned, full-time professional wedding and event vocalist with a huge love for country music, whose latest release 'Doublewide' is now available to stream and download on all major platforms.
'Doublewide' is a tongue-in-cheek, feel-good jive that celebrates all things country and will have your toes tapping. The song peppers in clever wordplay referencing country music icons like Johnny Cash, The Man in Black, Big & Rich and also nods to Sammy Price’s 'Honky Tonk Caboose' and Brooks & Dunn’s 'Boot Scootin’ Boogie'.
Laura is no stranger to the country music scene having previously released a cover of the timeless classic 'If Tomorrow Never Comes"' with Athboy's Matt Leavy, paying homage to the Garth Brooks song which is also available on all platforms alongside other duets with friend and colleague in the business, Nigel Connell.
'Doublewide' the music video boasts a fun quirky tale of how Laura is a wanted outlaw woman for causing some "Hell Raisin" fun in country western saloons where there is 'Wanted' posters and a bounty for her capture. She eventually finds herself apprehended in a county jail for all her musical chaos.
Accompanying Laura in her Honky Tonk Outfit are some of Irelands finest musicians, Ciarán Sheerin (guitar), Craig Sheerin (bass), Kane O'Rourke (fiddle), and Stephen Walsh (drums). Aidan Farrelly from Bad Apple Films captures the essence and elements of this quirky song injecting a little newness into the Irish country music scene.
