Silver linings for Hunt sisters in Tullamore
Bohermeen AC's Hunt sisters Emma and Tara had a memorable weekend at the National Juvenile Athletic Championships in Tullamore as they each took home individual silver medal and posted three personal bests over 800m and 3000m and Emma’s time over the 3000m also represented a new Bohermeen club record for the distance, a record she has re written several times this season.
Emma, who won the Leinster title at the same distance two weeks previous, took the silver medal on Saturday in the girls under 18 3000m with a time of 10:10.91 and on Sunday she placed fourth in the under 18 800m again posting a new personal best of 2:17.61.
Emma's younger sister Tara, who also won the Leinster title over 800m two weeks previous, also made the podium in the girls under 15 800m as she replicated her sisters grit to win the individual silver. With a lap to go there was a queue up to win the medals, but Tara kicked for home early posting a new personal best of 2:15.16 to make the podium.
Both Emma and Tara will return to Tullamore in two weeks’ time to contest their respective age group National 1500m finals.
Also in action on Sunday was Sheila Croal who was contesting her first Nationals and was in action in the girls under 14 hammer event, on the day she placed sixth overall and showed immense potential for the future.
ST COCA'S 5K
At the annual top class St Coca's 5k in Kilcock on Friday evening last Bohermeen AC's Nichola Sheridan once again produced a great run when she placed fourth lady overall and posted a new personal best for 5k on the road and a new club record over 5k on the road when she clocked 16:37, also in action was John Duffy, John Carroll and Brigid Mullen.
