Trim AC to walk 1 million metres to raise funds
ATHLETICS
Trim Athletic Club is on the verge of an exciting milestone, the development of a state-of-the-art indoor facility and sports field. The athletic facility will help the whole town and the wider athletics community in the region.
To date, important milestones have been achieved including securing the field (on the ring road, opposite the fire station) and vital grant funding.
However, to get the project off the ground, the club needs to raise additional funds to be able to draw down the grants.
To make this happen, club stalwart Pat Comey has organised a sponsored walkathon on Saturday 28th June, challenging members to collect donations and collectively walk 1 million metres around the new Home of Trim AC.
Plenty of work has already been done to create a walking trail, with members of all ages giving a hand to clear the site of stones and prepare the ground for the walkathon.
The people of Trim, and all surrounding areas, are invited to join in on the walkathon at any time between 8am and 8pm, at the field, pop in a donation and walk with the Trim AC members in support of our exciting new venture.
If you are not available to walk and donate on the day, an online Gofundme (search Trim Athletic Club Walkathon) has been set up to support this dream. The new facility is an exciting project for current and future generations of Trim and surrounding areas to be able to enjoy a new sport facility in town.
