Great success for Meath clubs at Leinster Championships

Bohermeen AC and Fr Murphy AC took home various golds from the Leinster Juvenile Athletics Championships

There was plenty of success at the Leinster Juvenile Championships held at Tullamore over the weekend for athletes from Bohermeen AC and Fr Murphy AC. The Fr Murphy athletes took home five gold medals from the weekend's action.

Paddy McGovern and Chloe Carney both broke championship records in the u-14 boys and the u-14 girls hammer throw. McGovern threw a 50.90 while Carney reached 42.64 with her best effort. Both claimed gold in their respective events.

Paddy McGovern recieved a gold medal after he threw a championship record throw in the u-14 boys hammer.

Grainne Murtagh and Nick Keogh were also successful in their hammer throw events. Murtagh took the victory in the u-16 girls while Keogh won the u-18 boys.

Daire Beaufort brought home two gold medals as he won both the u-15 1500m and the u-15 800m to set him up nicely for the National championships which take place in two weeks.

Bohermeen sisters Emma and Tara Hunt won three gold medals between them over the weekend and set two new championship records. On Saturday, Emma won the u-18 1500m and in the process broke a record that stood since 1989. She also won the u-18 3000m and placed third in the 800mts. The younger Hunt sibling, Tara, won the u-15 800m in a championship record time.

There was more success for Bohermeen athletes on the field as Danu McGann won the u-17 javelin on Saturday morning before Anna Brown claimed gold in the u- 14 triple jump.

Sheila Croal also had a memorable weekend. Croal finished second to Carney in the u-14 hammer throw before she finished third in the u-14 shot putt.
