Gardai appeal for witnesses to hit-and-run incident at Navan roundabout
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run where a cyclist received serious injuries in a collision in Navan last week.
The collision which involved a van driver and a cyclist occurred at the Andy Connolly Roundabout on the Athboy Road on Tuesday, 3rd June between 4.30pm and 5pm. The cyclist, a man in his 60’s, received serious injuries and was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Drogheda. The driver of the van failed to remain at the scene.

Navan Mayor Eddie Fennessy has once again highlighted the need for traffic calming and safety measures at the roundabout.
He said: “For seven years I have tabled multiple motions and questions calling for traffic calming and safety measures on the Andy Connolly roundabout. It is a very dangerous are for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
“We need a footpath installed on the Bailey Hill side of the road and a safe crossing point on the Moate Road. If that doesn’t happen soon, I fear we will have a very serious accident.
“Last week's accident was particularly bad, and by all accounts the victim suffered very serious injury. On behalf of the people of the town, I wish him well and I hope he makes a full recovery."
