Beyond the Pale Festival goes ahead after day of 'cancellation' drama

One of Ireland's biggest summer festivals will go ahead next weekend after stories broke yesterday (Saturday) that the three day music and arts event had been cancelled just one week before it was due to kick off.

Beyond The Pale, takes place over three days in the stunning Glendalough Estate from 13th-15th with 3-day camping tickets costing €259.00 plus a €9.95 Service Fee.

According to the Currency news website which broke the story on Saturday morning the music and arts festival Beyond the Pale had gone into liquidation just a week before it was due to start.

The Wicklow-based festival curated by Declan Forde will run from 13th-15th June featuring dozens of artists including Irish singer Róisín Murphy and English musician Jon Hopkins. TV on the Radio, an American rock band, were due to play their first gig in Ireland in 17 years.

According to the Currency, Forde informed stakeholders only this week that the festival was no longer going ahead.

Crews had been working on-site for weeks, setting up stages and preparing the grounds at Glendalough Estate, Co Wicklow but it's understood riggers had started dismantling the main stage.

Organisers responded by mid afternoon Saturday that the event was not cancelled and a fuller statement would follow. It was not until after 10pm last night that notifications appeared on their festival socials announcing the festival which is in its four year was going ahead and its future secured "for many years to come."
