Additional retail and cafe plans for Cluain Adain development in Navan

Plans for a new cafe and retail building at the Cluain Adain development on the Clonmagadden Road in Navan are currently being considered by council planners. The new building would be located at the corner site between Tesco and the medical centre building and features a curved wall and extensive glazing.

Newkey Homes (Navan) Ltd is seeking permission to construct a new 267sqm building which includes a 190sqm cafe unit and a second retail unit of 67sqm on the site. No additional car parking will be provided with the existing car park to serve the development.

The architectural design statement with the application notes that the "proposal will sit in the heart of this emerging community and will serve a large and growing population" and that it fits in with the county development plan and regional and national guidelines in terms of ensuring local services are within easy reach of residents, increasing access, encouraging active travel and reducing car dependence.

In February, Tesco opened a supermarket at commercial site at Cluain Adain which has been developed by Newkey Homes. A childcare facility and medical centre building including two GP surgeries and a pharmacy, have also been constructed at the site.

The new building would be located between Tesco and the entrance to the car park on a site of 0.05 hectares.

The residential element of Cluain Adain is being developed by Glenveagh Homes while the commercial site is being developed by Newkey Homes founded by Gibbstown native, Ronan O'Reilly.
