Bohermeen AC gear up to stage big day
39th Patrick Bell & Nicky Phillips memorial 5k race and community walk
Bohermeen Athletic Club will promote the 39th running of the Patrick Bell and Nicky Phillips memorial 5k race and community walk on Saturday 7th June at the earlier time of 6pm with the running followed by the traditional barbeque and live music.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the late Patrick’s death following a road traffic accident in August 1985 at the age of 25 while returning home from the NACA National Track and Field Championships in Cork.
The ladies race remembers the late Nicky Phillips who was the mile champion of Meath in the 1930s and was a mentor to many Bohermeen juvenile athletes in the 1970s.
Bohermeen AC are requesting all the local clubs and organisations to come out and walk the 5k on this special 40th anniversary since Patrick’s passing. Entry to the walk can be done on the night from 4.30pm and runners may enter ASAP online through www.myrunresults.com.
As always, Bohermeen AC expressed their appreciation to their main sponsors of the men’s race, Hogan Kitchens, whose owner John Hogan is a past club member and has supported the event for the past 39th years. Leahy’s Newgate Mace are sponsoring the ladies race.
