Extension proposal put forward for cycle routes between Navan, Kells and Oldcastle
Meath County Council has agreed to write to the Minister for Transport and the National Transport Authority to request a review of its cycle network plans to extend the route between Navan and the Kells to also take in Oldcastle.
A motion put forward by Cllr Eddie Fennessy request that the council write to the Minister for Transport and the NTA “to request a review of the proposal in the National Cycle Plan 2023 and the Greater Dublin Area Cycle Network Plan 2023 for the greenway development between Navan and Kells, to extend the route to Oldcastle.”
He spoke of the potential to link Newgrange and Loughcrew through a cycle and walking path and said it presents the possibility of a huge tourism boost for the county and it makes sense to expand the greenway beyond Kells and on to Oldcastle.
