A fun-packed agenda for the bank holiday weekend in Meath

This June bank holiday weekend is looking full to the brim full of events in Meath for all of the family. From music festivals to workshops, there’s something for everyone this weekend in The Royal County. Take a look below at some of the upcoming events and activities over the weekend.

Love Your Zoo Week at Emerald Park

Where: Emerald Park, Ashbourne

When: Friday 30 May, Saturday 31 May & Sunday 1 June 2025

What: Whether you’re an avid animal lover or a thrill seeker, there is something for everyone at Emerald Park in Ashbourne. This bank holiday weekend falls on Love Your Zoo Week, which entails an array of events and activities for any and all ages. Excitingly, the park just welcomed a new member with the arrival of a 13-year-old male Amur leopard named Manchurian.

Alongside the usual 45 ride theme park, the annual Love Your Zoo Week will bring along events such as a ‘Wildlife Ally Workshop’ which will teach attendees how to make bird boxes, bird feeders and wild-life friendly gardens. The weekend will also include daily interactive zoo tours, talks and a chance to track pollinator species.

Moynalty Music Festival

Where: Moynalty, Co Meath

When: Sunday June 1st 2025

What: This one day music festival will be raising profits for the restoration of Moynalty Church. The entrance fee for the festival is €35 with an additional €20 to camp on the grounds. Music on the day will include performances from All Folked Up, The Highstool Prophets, The Whistlin’ Donkeys and Meadhbh Walsh and Band.

What: The Blue Jean Country Queen Festival will take place this bank holiday weekend from Friday to Sunday. The Blue Jean Country Queen Festival is a volunteer-run festival organized by Meath Macra na Feirme.

The festival has taken place in Athboy, Co. Meath since 1987 and centers around the competition to crown the Blue Jean Country Queen. The festival will take place in the town of Athboy, Co. EcoChic Clothing Swap

Where: Swift Cultural Centre, Trim

When: Saturday May 31 2025

What: The first of the EcoChic Meath clothing swaps will be held this Saturday at 11am over the bank holiday weekend. The aim of EcoChic is to have a wide reaching campaign with a series of events from swap shops to workshops to raise awareness on the impacts of fast fashion and textile waste, and to encourage sustainable alternatives to conventional consumption such as second-hand shopping, upcycling & mending of textiles, and clothing swaps.

The clothing swap event is simple - bring any unwanted clothing and swap it for something you like. A maximum of 15 items per person is accepted. You'll be given tokens based on what you bring, which you can use to swap for other items available. You can book your free ticket online now.

Battle of The Boyne Visitors Center - Living History

Where: Oldbridge House, Drogheda

When: Sunday June 1 and Monday June 2 2025

What: Step back in time on Sunday June 1 and Monday June 2 from 11am to 4pm at the Battle of the Boyne Visitors Centre and find out what it was like to be a 17th century soldier under the watchful eye of a Drill Sergeant, completely free of charge.

This imitation 17th century military camp includes all of the essential characters such as blacksmiths, gunners, sutlers, monks and soldiers. A battlefield walk will be held both days from 2pm to discuss tactics, strategy, geography, and personalities on the battlefield.

Loud and Proud Music Fundraiser by Navan Pride

Where: The Lantern Pub, Watergate Street, Navan

When: Saturday 31 May 2025

What: Navan Pride Festival kick off their array of summer events with a music fundraiser in The Lantern Pub, Navan on Saturday night. 20 percent of all funds raised will be donated to their charity partners, Prosper Meath and Youth Work Ireland Meath, to support their vital community service.

The night will feature live music from The Picnics Band, Arco Arena, Zeto and Dorian and Spin-Itch in the backroom of The Lantern. The event kicks off at 7pm.
