'Target the drug dealers, not the refugees'... Call for anger towards migrants to be redirected

A call for anger towards immigrants to be redirected at those who are really making the streets of Meath a dangerous place was made at last Monday's meeting of Meath County Council.

Cllr Alan Lawes raised what he described as racist and derogatory comments being made towards refugees and immigrants at recent protests against IPAS centres and said if people really want to protect their children, they need to look at those who are selling illegal drugs in Meath.

"Racist comments have gone unchecked a lot of the time by local councillors and it sickens me to think that immigrants who haven't even arrived here yet are being accused of being a danger to our children, while in our own county we have the 'Mr Untouchable' of the drugs trade strolling around his home patch smiling like a Chesire cat," said Cllr Lawes.

He referred to this person using initials and was reminded by Cathaoirleach Sharon Tolan that they don't have the benefit of Dail privilege.

Cllr Lawes continued that "the dogs in the street knew he was behind every big drug deal in the county, yet he walks free".

He claimed the man he described as "Mr Untouchable" has his drug dealers outside schools, pubs, clubs and in every small and large town in the county. "He is the one ruining lives of our young children."

"If we really want to protect our children, we should demand that these Mr Untouchables are not untouchable any longer."

"I ask the people of Meath when you go and shout ‘out, out out’ the next time, let it be directed at this guy who is walking around as free as a bird," adding it was time the gardai took him down.
