Stamullen school celebrates Europe Day
Sixth class pupils in St. Patrick’s National School, Stamullen, proudly hosted an EU Showcase on May 16th to mark Europe Day and celebrate the completion of their work on the Blue Star Programme.
The Blue Star Programme, coordinated by European Movement Ireland, encourages primary school students to learn about the European Union through creative and interactive activities. As part of the initiative, all sixth-class pupils were divided into small groups and assigned one of the 27 EU member states to research. Their projects explored four key areas of learning: historical, geographical, institutional, and cultural & creative aspects of their chosen country.
Over several months, students worked both at home and in school to develop their projects. The final showcase featured a wide variety of presentations, including colourful posters, detailed booklets, 3D models, and digital slideshows. The creativity and dedication on display impressed all who attended.
The morning of the showcase saw special visits from Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee and MEP Nina Carberry, who viewed the projects and engaged with the students. Their words of encouragement and support were warmly received.
Local councillors Amanda Smith, Alan Tobin, and Helen Meyer also attended, joining the school community in celebrating the project work undertaken by the pupils.
Parents, grandparents, and members of the local community also visited the school to view the work of the students.
The event was a resounding success, highlighting the hard work, creativity, and growing European awareness of St. Patrick’s sixth-class pupils.
The Blue Star programme in the school is coordinated by teachers Orlaith Duff, Cliodhna Fox, Shane O’Neill and Rachel Kierans with the full support of school principal Joanne Doherty. Stamullen school celebrates Europe Day - Education Minister, MEP and councillors join the celebrations.
