Funding in place for the upgrade of Oldcastle Fire Station

Funding is in place for upgrade works to Oldcastle Fire Station but funding has not yet been secured for planned upgrades of fire stations in Navan, Trim, Ashbourne and Kells.

The information was provided in a written response to north Meath Cllr Peter Caffrey who tabled a question at the May meeting of Meath County Council asking what the current status of funding is for upgrading fire stations in Meath.

The response stated that the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management has approved upgrade works for Oldcastle Fire Station with maximum funding of €915, 196 and that the council is in the process of developing a tender framework for consultancy services with the upcoming project in Oldcastle to be sourced from this framework.

Plans are in place for the upgrading, remodelling and extension of additional fire stations in Navan, Ashbourne, Kells and Trim but capital funding approvals from the Department for these projects have yet to be secured. The response also stated that funding for the upgrading of fire stations is included in the Meath County Council Capital Investment Programme 2024-2027.

Upgrade works to Oldcastle Fire Station have been approved with funding of over €915,000 secured for the project.
