Athboy housing development gets green light

Plans to build a residential development of 85 houses at Townspark, Athboy, have been approved by Meath County Council.

Sean Brady Construction & Engineering Limited sought permission for 85 residential units made up of 13 four-bed homes, 36 three-bed homes and 28 two-bed homes as well as a two-storey block containing eight own door one-bed residential units. Derelict structures on site are to be demolished and replaced by the construction of a creche. The 2.62 hectares site is located to the north of Fair Green local road, and is bound to the west by Park View, to the north by Meadlowlands and the local road L-4003-2 to the east.

Some 11 objections were received on the plans including one on behalf of Park View residents. Among the concerns raised were that the proposed access road would add to already dangerous junction, that Park View is a quiet established estate and they object to future access into Park View from the proposed development, that the initial proposal for a creche to serve 16 children was too small, as well as issues around school places, access to GPs and the regular outages with the power supply in the area before any additional development.
