Meath Walk in the Park for Parkinson's fundraiser success

Over 200 people turned out at Claremont Stadium, Navan, recently, to highlight and raise funds for the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, Parkinson’s, in the inaugural Meath Walk in the Park for Parkinson’s. The event in Meath raised some €13,000.

Grandparents, parents, children, siblings and friends of people living with Parkinson’s were welcomed by Margaret Gorman on what was a beautiful Saturday morning. Claremont was the ideal venue, safe, spacious, flat, wheelchair friendly and helpful staff.

Siel Bleu representative said a few words and all made their way to the track. After a short warm up, the Walk in the Park got going. The mingling of the crowd was a delight to see. Discussions about the weather, holidays, Parkinson’s symptoms and treatments were heard.

Many adjourned to the hall for light refreshments to sit and to meet others in the same boat. Others stayed talking to the volunteers.

Information on Parkinson’s, membership forms, exercise programmes and sketchers vouchers were distributed. Dedicated volunteers were on hand to give out T-shirts and vouchers. The committee expresses thanks to all who made this a very successful day.
