Two arrested following drugs seizure in Louth
Two men have been arrested following the seizure of drugs to the value of almost €400,000 in Co Louth yesterday (Monday).
As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations targeting drug distribution networks and associated criminal activity, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit in Drogheda stopped a van in Ardee, recovering cocaine valued at over €200,000. The driver, a male in his 40s, was arrested and taken to a Garda station in County Louth, where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
In a follow-up search of a residential property in Ardee in the early hours of Tuesday, 29th April 2025, Gardaí recovered cannabis valued at over €190,000. A second male, aged in his 50s, was arrested and is also detained at a Garda Station in County Louth under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
All of the drugs seized are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
