Bohermeen to host extravaganza of races

Bohermeen Cycling Club will promote their annual Beggan Shield and Waller Cup races, sponsored by Thornton Recycling, on the weekend of the 26th and 27th April.
As one of the most established races on the Irish cycling calendar, amateur cyclists from all over Ireland will make their way to Bohermeen over the weekend.
With a full schedule of races on the winner on Sunday will receive the Waller Cup. This cup was presented to the club in 1937 and the Beggan Shield to the club in the 1950s.
Proceedings will get underway at 10am on Saturday with a time trial for the under-16 racers.
The route for the time trial will start at Boyerstown school and finish outside Bohermeen community centre. This is part of a two-day stage race for under-16s only.
This will be followed by youth races at 12pm with under-12s (one lap), under-14 (two laps) and under-16 races (four laps).
In the afternoon at 2pm there will be handicap race for all senior categories (eight laps).The races will start from Bohermeen national school, go via Well road, Grange, Greetiagh, Durhamstown and finish outside Bohermeen school.Sunday racing starts at 10am for under-12, under-14, under-16 and C3 races.
In the afternoon at 1pm races that follow will be C1, C2, and Ladies races.
The route will be Neilstown road, Lady’s road, Grange, Greetiagh, Athboy / Navan road, Boyerstown and finish at the flyover on Neilstown road.The hub for the weekend will be Bohermeen Community Centre. This weekend of racing will be a spectacle around the parish of Bohermeen and supporters are encouraged to come out and support the future stars of Irish cycling.
