The Kells Municipal District 2024 Pride of Place awards were held at the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells on Wednesday, September 25.
Councillor Sarah Reilly, Cathaoirleach of the Kells Municipal District, initiated the proceedings by extending a warm welcome to the attendees, who represented the 36 applicant groups from the Kells Municipal District participating in this year's initiative. She emphasised that the event serves to highlight the transformative impact of collaborative efforts on societal improvement.
Furthermore, the gathering provided Meath County Council with the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of volunteers and to express appreciation for their dedication to the community. Mr. Dara McGowan, Director of Services for the Kells Municipal District, articulated that since the inception of the competition in 2003, it has positively influenced hundreds of thousands of individuals, all of whom take pride in their locality. Recognised as one of the most esteemed community awards on the island of Ireland, Meath County Council expressed its pleasure in participating once again in the Pride of Place competition.
He congratulated all groups for their nominations and remarked that collaborative efforts yield enhanced pride among residents, ultimately fostering the development of vibrant communities.
