Sisters and team with a special bond they share with clients

The Glam Loft, Kentstown

Tell us about your business and team

The Glam Loft, which is co-owned by sisters Lauren Macari, Carly Ryan and Erin Ratchford first opened in Kentstown four years ago, just two weeks before Covid hit. Obviously that was a turbulent time and unknown territory for the team at The Glam Loft , but they worked through it well. The sisters and their team at The Glam Loft share an extra special bond as they all knew each other from previous jobs and all work very well together as a team. Services offered in The Glam Loft salon, include hair, nails and makeup services, while team members also go out on-site to look after wedding parties for hair and makeup.

Describe the best thing about your service

We have hair, makeup and nails in the one place so that is convenient for clients. We’re not your typical hair salon. If you walked into the salon you would be met with laughing, chatting and a lovely atmosphere, says co-owner Lauren. “Both clients and staff all interact and chat away to each other. There is a lovely energy and atmosphere. Some clients would say they look forward to coming into us because they have such a lovely time with the chats and laughs and walk out in good form after it all.”

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?

The best advice I have gotten was: Never think that you know it all, no matter how long you’re hairdressing or how good you think you are. That you never stop learning and never get too cocky thinking you know it all’. And it’s so true, I’m 23 years hairdressing and I still learn something new all the time.

What does the future hold for your business?

At present the salon does hair, makeup and nails. But The Glam Loft has recently acquired a beauty salon based across the hall from the current business in its Kentstown premises, so watch this space. The Glam Loft is just getting bigger and better and I’m super proud to be part of this team.

Hairitage was opened in Kells for the first time eight years ago by Jenny Russell. Nearly two years ago it expanded to a bigger premises and relocated to beside Supervalu, Kells.

Proprietor Jenny says: “My team also expanded then and has continued to grow since. I couldn’t ask for a better team for my salon. They are a group of dedicated, hardworking individuals that come together to support each other in providing amazing services. My team makes my business, they are all amazing at what they do and are always striving to do more.”

Describe the best thing about your service

The best thing about our service is that we have a diverse set of skills to offer. We have a large team and the girls all excel in different areas and are constantly learning new skills from each other and through additional training. Another great thing about the salon is the atmosphere when you walk in.

The girls are like family and you can always guarantee that there is smiles and laughter in the salon and we welcome all of our clients to join in with us.

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?

“Never give up if you believe you can achieve it.,” says Jenny. “Also make sure you know how to do everything, so nothing ever surprises you.”

What does the future hold for your business?

We hope to continue to grow in all aspects of the business as well as adding in some extras along the way.
