Duleek volunteers to take part in An Croi Heart and Stroke Foundation sponsored cycle in Galway
A team of five Duleek volunteers will take part in the An Croi Heart and Stroke Foundation sponsored cycle in Galway this weekend.
Sean Lynch, Thomas Lynch, Aodhan Gallagher, Eamon Flynn and Joe Gilheaney from 'Helping Hands Helping Communities' Duleek, will travel west to Galway to join over 400 participants in the two different routes of 107kms or 47kms, whichever each individual chooses to complete.
Spokesperson for Helping Hands Helping Communities Duleek, Thomas Lynch, said the five man team are looking forward to supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation event in Galway.
"It’s a worthy cause for an organisation that do so much for the community. We have been helping many organisations in our own area such as Duleek Senior Citizens, Duleek Meals On Wheels, Duleek Cardiac Responders, Drogheda Women and Children’s Refuge, Drogheda Cares For The Homeless along with supporting the children's ward in Our Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda and local nursing homes. We are constantly donating supplies including tents and sleeping bags to voluntary homeless organisations country wide so we have decided to go a step further and support this great organisation in Galway."
Thomas said the event in Galway would not be possible without the support of two great local businesses. "We would like to thank Martin Lynch and crew at MLP Tarmacadam Contractor, Kentstown and Lorna Lynch, Tarstone Road Maintenance, Deanhill.
"We would also like to thank the local businesses and people of Duleek and surrounding areas for supporting us throughout the year in our fund raising events. Anyone wishing to support us in our efforts to help others can email us at helpinghandsduleek@gmail.com.
"We have many other events coming up, in particular our annual Month of October team challenge, which is our bread and butter event for the year," he added.
