Thrilling finish to Rás as Jackson claims victory in Bective
Despite the weather, there was a fantastic turnout across the county to witness the final stage of Rás Tailteann on Sunday
UK's Dom Jackson took Rás glory ahead of Conn Mc Dunphy and Team Ireland's Liam O'Brien as the famous race reached its pinnacle in Bective on Sunday. It wasn't all heartbreak for O'Brien as he secured the Spin 11 Under 23 title.
Three finishing laps of a 14.1km circuit wrapped up proceedings and the prize-giving ceremony took place at Bective Stud, Apartments, and Tearooms. It was the 69th edition of the famous race.
A 26th-place finish in the final stage was enough to secure Aureliusz Klus of Bohermeen CC 64th place overall with a total time of 17 hours 20 minutes and 28 seconds in the clubs inaugural participation. Klus was just a few places ahead of teammate Chris Reilly who finished 68th overall. Luke Smith was the highest finisher for Moynalty CC finishing in 73rd.
The concluding stage which commenced in Maynooth passed through Ratoath, Ashbourne, Stamullen, Laytown, Drogheda, and Donore before reaching its climax in Bective.
