The Chambers family among those to put on their walking shoes for the Blacks

It's good to talk - and it's good to walk too.

Many supporters of Walterstown GAA club will be putting on their walking shoes and hitting the road on Saturday 22nd June.

They will be taking part in a walk from St Stephen's National School out to the home of Walterstown GAA ground.

It's all part of a fundraiser for the club with funds raised going towards carrying out various development projects at the home ground including the resurfacing of the back pitch and the installation of a walkway around the perimeter of the whole area owned by the club.

The response to the fundraiser is already very positive and there's still a few weeks to go for others to put their names forward for the walk and for donors to add to the sum of money already collected.

Among those taking part is the Walterstown GFC's former chairperson Ruth Chambers who is now PRO. Ruth will be joined by her husband Mike, son Aidan and daughter Sarah.

"Out club means the world to us, it's at the very centre of our community and we want to see it grow and develop," said Ruth.

Aidan plays with Walterstown u-11 boys , Sarah with the u-10 girls while Mike coaches the u-11 boys and is club registrar.
