Eclectic line-up of guests announced for Hinterland

Now in it’s 12th year Hinterland Kells returns with it’s eclectic mix of authors, speakers, creatives and performers in the heritage town of Kells, from 27th -30th June.

Featuring over 50 events throughout the weekend with interviews, theatre, life-affirming documentaries, street art, live music and Ireland’s only Litcrawl – where budding artists and writers share their work in intimate spaces.

Highlights this year include Booker Prizewinner Anne Enright, (The Wren, The Wren), Elaine Feeney (How to Build a Boat) and Sinead Gleeson (Hagstone). From the world of journalism - veteran BBC investigative journalist Peter Taylor (Operation Chiffon: The Secret Story of MI5 and MI6 and the Road to Peace in Ireland), former BBC NI journalist Stephen Walker, biographer of John Hume, and Irish Times’ Martin Doyle.

Other highlights include Irish soccer legend Niall Quinn, RTÉ sports commentator George Hamilton, meteorologist Joanna Donnelly, former Garda Inspector Christy Mangan, co-creator of Father Ted, Arthur Mathews, and hairdresser to the Fab Four - Leslie Cavendish!

Hinterland also hosts a children’s programme with interactive workshops with authors like Derek Landy and Paddy Donnelly and a Where’s Wally themed treasure hunt through the shop windows of the town.

The stunning surrounds of St. Columba’s Church provide the backdrop to a collaboration between Tom Dunne (Something Happens) and Fiachna O Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers) as they combine two back catalogues for an evening of musical treats.
