McEntee condemns protest at O'Gorman home

Justice Minister, Helen McEntee has condemned the protest at the home of Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman by a group of masked and hooded men yesterday (Thursday).

Gardaí were called to the Green Party TD’s home yesterday evening after it was targeted by far-right protesters who placed placards and banners on his gates and railings.

The anti-migration group gathered outside the Minister's home with banners featuring anti-migration slogans, associated with conspiracy theories.

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has spoken to the Garda Commissioner about the garda response to the disturbance.

She said "Minister O’Gorman’s privacy and property have been violated in a disgusting and shocking manner. I’ve spoken to the Garda commissioner. This cannot be tolerated."

Minister McEntee was herself the subject of a hoax bomb threat in March 2021 when a man rang the Samaritans saying explosives had been planted at her home.

Gardaí were dispatched to her home, but found no evidence of any explosives.

The call was traced to the prison cell of convicted rapist, Michael Murray, who recently received a two-year prison sentence for the incident, which will run consecutively to a sentence he was already serving.
