Letters to the Editor: Memories of Goldenbridge, 1973-1979

(Editor, Meath Chronicle)

Dear Sir - My name is Cathie and I'm looking for assistance from anyone who may have spent time in the Goldenbridge Orphanage in Inchicore in Dublin and who might remember me.

I was there from 1973 until 1979 and I was left in there with my two siblings, my older sister Sylvia and younger brother Bernard (known as Sonny). We were all aged just a year apart.

I would be particularly interested to know about a lay house mother, Wendy Mason who worked there and who I was very fond of. I can still remember her brushing my hair, one of the very few acts of kindness ever shown to me in that place. There was also another lady, Louise who was very good also.

If anyone can help me with the above I would be very grateful. I can be contacted in confidence through the editor (gavan.becton@meathchronicle.ie)

Yours

Cathie
