First Aisling Brady Scholarship awarded to physiotherapy student

A Navan student has been awarded St Joseph's Mercy Secondary School's inaugural Aisling Brady STEM Scholarship.

Osarhumwense Osariemen of the class of 2023, who is currently studying physiotherapy with Trinity College Dublin, is the first recipient of the scholarship.

"We are delighted to announce that Osarhumwense Osariemen has been named the recipient of our first Aisling Brady STEM Scholarship," said Principal Rita Meagher.

"This scholarship reflects all the hard work and dedication Osarhumwense has shown in science, technology, engineering, and maths."

The Aisling Brady STEM Scholarship was established by the school's Board of Management to honour the memory of Ms Aisling Brady, a beloved Maths, Science, and Physics teacher at St Joseph's from 2013 until her passing in 2020. Ms Brady was known for her dedication to her subjects and her ability to inspire a love of learning and a curious mind in all her students.

"Aisling was a passionate and dedicated teacher who instilled a love of STEM subjects in generations of students," Ms. Meagher continued. "This scholarship ensures her legacy lives on by supporting students who share her passion for these critical fields."

The €2000 scholarship is funded through generous donations received during fundraising efforts to support Ms Brady's care. It aims to financially assist graduating students from St Joseph's Mercy Secondary School who are pursuing STEM courses in higher education.
