One of the very successful Walterstown teams from back in the day.

Blacks look back on the golden days

GAA CELEBRATIONS

From 1978 to 1984, winning Keegan Cups became quite the habit for Walterstown. Indeed the Blacks annexed five Meath Senior Football Championship titles and two provincial crowns during an unprecedented era of glory.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the last time the Johnstown outfit claimed the coveted Keegan Cup and on Saturday 20th April the club will hold a very special event to mark the achievements of the marvellous men who brought such joy to all in Johnstown, Walterstown, Meath and beyond.

The five SFC winning teams and management will gather together in the clubhouse to reminisce and relive what was the club’s most decorated era. They will also be joined by very special guests on the night as representatives from Summerhill, Navan O’Mahonys, Skryne and Syddan, the teams accounted for in the five finals, will recount tales and anecdotes from those illustrious years where football was tough and it was teak.

Walterstown will welcome the one and only Brendan Cummins from LMFM as Master of Ceremonies on the night, while there will also be a meal, live music and much memorabilia to look back on.

This promises to be a superb event at the Walterstown venue and there are a limited number of tickets available for sale. Tickets are priced at €30 each and are available now. Please contact Ruth on 087-2378741, Ethna on 086-8435807 or Sean on 087-6637956 for tickets.
