Cushinstown school parents officially launch petition over road safety concerns

A PETITION has been created urging Meath Co Council to install traffic calming measures on the busy R152 road, by parents of Cushinstown NS students.

Earlier this month, parents of students who attend Cushinstown NS expressed their concern towards the lack of safety infrastructure on the R152 that links Drogheda and Kilmoon Cross.

The lack of safety "visible" signage and cars failing to adhere to the speed limit are two factors worrying the parents. Others include the increased amount of HGVs on the road, and the school road being situated so close to the main N2 road.

A 'Road Safety at Cushinstown' petition has been created with a goal of 200 signatures.

The campaigners said: "In the interest of public safety, we the undersigned are calling on Meath Co Council, Transportation Department to install adequate traffic calming measures on the R152 at Cushinstown NS as a matter of urgency."

Further highlighting the issue, local businesses such as The Becks pub in Cushinstown, have also shared the petition. In a social media post, The Becks said: "Please sign our Cushinstown Local community Petition to improve traffic calming around our School.”
