Garda Síochana Centenary Medal presented in NY

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee TD presenting Edmond Burke's Garda Siochana centenary medal to his grandson Ed Brady, with his wife Kathleen, in New York on Friday last, 15th March. Edmond Burke was stationed in the Cavan/Monaghan division including Virginia from 1922 until his death while serving in 1953, aged 51.

New Jersey native and frequent Kells resident Ed Brady, a partner with New York firm PKF O'Connor Davies, provide financial and pensions advice to many US police unions including those representing NYPD patrol officers and detectives. He was recently awarded the high honour of Irishman of the Year 2024 by the NYPD Emerald Society for his dedicated work for and on behalf of police, an achievement rarely bestowed on non police individuals. Ed's parents, Kathleen Burke from Ballinlough and John Brady from nearby Muintirconnacht, emigrated to the United States in the 1950s.
