All-inclusive playground opens in Kilcloon

Kilcloon's new community playground was officially opened yesterday (Monday). Children and families were invited to the playground, which is part of the overall Community Centre Development at Ballynare Cross, to celebrate.

The playground was designed and laid out for the under 12 age group, with a wide array of multi play units.

It is accessible for all abilities, catering for disabilities, sensory friendly and autism friendly. It provides an enclosed safe space for children to play.

The project received the Sustainable Communities and Placemaking Awards at the Irish Planning Institute Planning Awards 2023 as well as receiving grant funding under the Town and village Renewal Scheme.

Kilcloon Community Centre said: "Our thanks to Meath County Council who grant aided the venture, along with the hardworking playground committee and all involved in delivery this lovely playground for our community."

Cllr Maria Murphy PC, who attended the opening, said: "Great to see the energy in Kilcloon this afternoon for the opening of the community playground. Great to see the children stretching the equipment as they do.

"This is a great addition to the community which will benefit the local families for many years to come."
