Meath bid to get back on track against Kingdom

LADIES NFL PREVIEW

If Meath are to maintain their ambitions of winning this year's Ladies NFL Div 1 then nothing less than a victory over Kerry in Ashbourne on Sunday at 3pm will do.

After winning their opening three games of the campaign the wheels have come off the Meath challenge in recent weeks, but they will fancy getting back on track against a Kerry side that dethroned them in last year's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.

Off the back of last year's disappointment Meath started the new campaign impressively with wins over Mayo, All-Ireland champions Dublin and Waterford in their opening three games, but subsequent losses to table toppers Armagh and struggling Galway have dented league title hopes.

Maybe the exertions of third level colleges football took their toll on Meath in recent games, but with those competitions out of the way the Royals can look forward to the year ahead with a full deck to play from.

Ciara Smyth and Emma Duggan were among those involved with their colleges and they will be key players against a Kerry side whose only loss came in the last round against Armagh.

Meath lost to Armagh by 10 points, while the Kingdom girls were beaten by seven points by the same opposition. Kerry's wins came against Dublin, Waterford and struggling Cork, while they also drew with mayo, so all the indications are that it will be a tight tussle in Ashbourne next Sunday.
