Four Meath Golf Courses make top 100 list

Four Meath Golf Courses have recently been ranked inside the top 100 courses in Ireland according to the Irish Golfer magazine.

The definitive list is widely used by keen Golfers who want to create their own bucket list of golf courses to visit. It is also very competitive and features the likes of the host of the 2027 Ryder Cup, Adare Manor, The 2025 Open venue, Royal Portrush and what has been described as Ireland's version of Augusta, Druids Glen.

Four Meath Golf Courses proudly hold their spot among the top 100 and Headfort Golf Club in Kells has taken two of said four spots. The first of which is the 'Old Course' which sits 87th on the list.

The Old Course was first developed in the 1930s on Headfort Estate. The historical parkland course was originally a nine-hole course but was extended to 18 holes in 1956.

One place below the 'Old Course' at 86th is Laytown and Bettystown Golf Links. It has been 115 years since its conception and it is one of the most breathtaking courses you will ever come across. As is the case with most links courses, under certain conditions this course can be extremely challenging. However, the difficult terrain and various undulations add to the personality of this scenic track.

Headfort GC makes its second appearance on the list when the 'Championship course appears at 42nd. The Christy O’Connor Jnr designed course has played host to the European Challenge Tour and Irish Championships since it opened at the start of the millennium.

Killeen Castle is the highest-rated course in Meath according to the above-mentioned list. In the testimony to Killeen Castle, Irish Golfer magazine said "The views along the driveway show off the vast expanse that is home to this powerful Jack Nicklaus-designed parkland, and the castle beside the clubhouse is a spectacular sight."
