The transformation of St Kinneth's Church in Ballivor to a library can be expected to be completed this month.

Meath County Council has revealed that they are working towards a mid-March date for opening.

“IT works are being completed at present. We're also in the process of fitting out the space with shelving, book stock and furniture.”

St Kinneth's Church was acquired by Meath County Council in 2004 with the intention of transforming it into a library.

The building, which dates back to 1821 lay empty for almost two decades until its refurbishment last May.

Construction of a new accessible toilet, office and tea station within the church, and the installation of a new insulated floor slab as well as restoration works to the stained glass windows, roofs, ceilings, stairs and woodwork were included in the refurbishment works of the building.
