Dance troupe launches fundraising campaign to support travel expenses to World Championships in Arizona

Local Dance School Fit Kids/Fit Teens will represent Ireland at the World Hip Hop Championships 2024 in Arizona.

The dance school's Junior/Varsity Megacrew FKFT, which is made up of 29 dancers from Meath and surrounding areas, battled their way to the top last weekend and won the Irish Qualifiers.

The crew, with their supporters, will travel to Arizona in early August for the world championships, however with no government funding available they are hoping that the community will get behind them: "We're launching this GoFundMe campaign to bridge the financial gap and ensure we have the resources to represent Ireland with pride. Every contribution will directly support travel, accommodation, training, and competition expenses."

They added: "By supporting us, you're not just helping a dance team – you're backing a cultural movement and showing that Ireland's talented dance community deserves recognition and support. We promise to work tirelessly, bringing our passion to the global stage and making Ireland proud."

Congratulating the group on their win, Director Jacinta Cassidy from Mornington said: "It's another treasured moment for our FKFT family. We are so immensely proud of them all.

"Arizona will be a wonderful experience for them, where they will mix with the best dancers in the world. They will be splendid ambassadors for our country."

Jacinta also praised the wonderful coaches and choreographers Rachel Murphy, James Boylan, Casey Ronan, Karl Smith and all the parents for "doing everything to help realise these dancer's dreams".
