Cavan manager Ray Galligan will hope to sustain their push for promotion as they host Meath this evening.

Pitch inspection latest for Meath match

LEAGUE Recent results put Cavan within striking distance of promotion

Cavan's big match with Meath looks set to go ahead despite the inclement weather.

Following a pitch inspection this morning, the surface at Kingspan Breffni was deemed good enough to host the Division 2 clash.

Heavy snowfall on Friday morning had put the fixture in doubt, but work by the ground staff to clear the surface paid off. A pitch inspection by a local referee gave it the go ahead at 10am this morning. A further pitch inspection will be carried out at 2pm, well ahead of the 7pm throw-in.

A run of notable victories has put Cavan in a strong position to push for promotion to Division 1. The news Cavan have the opportunity to sustain their positive momentum from their nail-biting win over Louth will be a boost to manager Raymond Galligan and the Cavan faithful.

The Cavan minors however will not get a run out today. Their league match with Donegal was due to be played at the 3G pitch at 3pm but that has been postponed.
