Cllrs heading for New York and London for St Patrick’s Day

Seven Meath county councillors are travelling to New York and London to take part in this year's St Patrick's Day festivities, with four council officials also part of the delegations.

Those travelling to New York from 13th to 17th March are the leas cathaoirleach of Meath County Council, Paul McCabe, cllrs Paddy Meade, Trevor Golden and Caroline O'Reilly, along with CEO Kieran Kehoe and directors of services, Martin Murray and Barry Lynch.

Those travelling to London from the 16th – 18th March are Cathaoirleach, Cllr Tommy Reilly, cllrs Amanda Smith and Yemi Adenuga, along with Head of Finance, Fiona Lawless.

The New York delegation leave on Wednesday 13th March and will attend a Bank of Ireland, St Patrick’s Day Corporate Event that evening.

They will attend a meeting with the IDA and another with Tourism Ireland on Thursday 14th March 2024 and on the Friday will meet with Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez, commissioner of the New York City Department for the Ageing.

On Saturday 16th March, they will attend the Mayor’s St Patrick’s Gracie Mansion Breakfast at 6:30am, followed by mass and will then attend the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The London delegation will be meeting the diaspora at a number of events to be confirmed as well as the St Patrick's Day parade.

Meanwhile, Meath East's two government ministers will also be travelling to the US for St Patrick’s Day.

Justice Minister, Helen McEntee and Minister for Sport, Thomas Byrne, are among a total of 35 Ministers and Ministers of State travelling overseas, along with other Government and Oireachtas representatives.

Minister McEntee will visit New York, while Minister Byrne will be travelling to Phoenix and Arizona.

Meanwhile, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will travel to Washington DC and Boston during the week of St Patrick’s Day as part of the Government’s annual international programme to promote Ireland.
