Youth arrested following report of man being attacked with weapons

A 16-year-old male has appeared in court charged in connection with an incident which occurred last night in Navan.

At around 11.30pm Gardaí received a report of a man being attacked by two males with weapons at Convent Road. Responding Gardaí saw two males matching the description of the suspects at the bottom of Flowerhill in Navan.

The males ran from Gardaí and a foot chase ensued. One of the males was arrested and items of stolen property were recovered. A knife and a meat cleaver were also recovered in the area.

According to the Meath Crime Prevention facebook page, the male who was arrested was detained at Navan Garda Station and interviewed. He appeared at Trim District Court this afternoon (Tuesday) charged with a number of offences in relation to the incident.
