First baby of the year born to Meath parents

The first baby of the new year - a boy delivered at 12.04am on Monday morning - was born in Dublin's Rotunda Hospital.

Baby Arlo Robert Emmet weighed in at 4.2 kilogrammes and was born to delighted parents Nicole and Robert Emmet from Ashbourne, Co Meath.

It was a busy night for the midwives and maternity staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Their first baby of the New Year was born at 12.28am while there was also two waterbirths either side of midnight.

The first-born baby of 2024 was Baby Holly born to parents Keith Fitzpatrick mum Kyna Maggs and dad Keith Fitzpatrick from Carrickmacross, County Monaghan at 12.27am and weighing in at 3.89kg.

The first water-born baby of 2024 in the country was Baby Ollie, weighing in at 4.065 kg and born to Laura Raftery and husband Aidan from the Dublin road, Drogheda.

According to RTE, the first baby girl of the new year was delivered at 12.06am. The first child born to Sundas Khan weighed 2.21 kilogrammes.

The first baby of the new year born outside Dublin was delivered by midwives at Letterkenny University Hospital.

A baby girl, Amelia, was born to Danielle Gallagher at 12.13am weighing 3.65 kilogrammes.

The midwives at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin, welcomed their first new year baby at 12.45am.

Lorraine and Kevin Diffley are the proud parents of baby Rosie, who weighed 3.79kg and is a little sister to Lily.

The first baby of 2024 born in the Regional Hospital Mullingar was a little girl weighing 3.61kg.

Delighted parents Ciara and Anthony Martin from Drumraney have not yet decided on a name.
