Busy period for Navan artist

Navan- based artist, Annette Smyth, faces a busy December as her work can be seen in six different shows.

Annette currently has pieces in the Royal Ulster Academy, Belfast and the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. Last week she added the Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise, next weekend adds the Outset Gallery in Galway and on Saturday last, was part of the Surveyor group show in Navan’s Solstice Arts Centre gallery.

This week, Annette will be showing twenty pieces of her latest series (Train) at the Storyboard Café, Islandbridge, Dublin 8. She says: “The paintings are about people and moments in time, on a continuous track. Each window depicts a scene of life in action.”

Annette has been teaching drawing for over twenty years at Ballyfermot College of Further Education, well known for its Animation Department. Annette herself started painting at the beginning of lockdown and had been participating in group shows ever since. Surveyor 23 opened on Saturday 2nd December in the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, and runs till early January.
