Pitching in for the St Pat’s Lotto

St Patrick's Classical Shool in Navan is launching a School Lotto next week to raise money for the upgrading of the current astroturf pitch.

The first draw takes place on Thursday 30th November and even if the jackpot is not won, there will be a weekly winner prize each week.

Principal, Harry McGarry told parents; “While It will be a costly project, with your support through the School Lotto, we can achieve this, and provide a state-of-the-art playing pitch for all our students, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on their daily lives. Its advantages will also extend to members of the public who utilise our pitch”.

This is a busy, exciting time for the school. The construction of a new two storey building is well underway, while on the extra curricular front, the football, hurling, rugby, basketball and athletics teams fill the school gym and pitches almost every morning, lunchtime and after school. There is also the Christmas Recital, which takes place in the Newgrange Hotel on Thursday 7th December.

This week saw the launch of another exciting initiative when the school, in conjunction with its Parents Council, announced the introduction of the School Lotto.

While the extra-curricular participation is a source of great pride for the school, it means that they continue to invest in an infrastructure that will facilitate future success.

To that end, the main target of the current fundraising drive is to raise money for the upgrading of the current astroturf pitch to a 4G surface. The current surface, laid in 2007, has been invaluable in the education of the many thousands of students who have used it, as well as the clubs who avail of the facility in the evenings and at weekends, but it is certainly in need of an upgrade.

The cost of the improvement will be roughly €250,000 and so a massive fundraising effort is needed.

St Patrick’s Classical School is calling on parents, past pupils, local businesses and all those in the local community to help support by signing up for this online lotto at www.ourfundraiser.ie/org/stpatscs or by scanning the QR Code. There are options to sign up for one line for as little as €2.50 per week or three lines for just €5. The first draw takes place on Thursday 30th November 30th.

Anyone with questions, or who is interested in supporting the fundraisier can contact the head of fundraising, Ciaran Murphy at ciaranmurphy@stpatscs.com to discuss how you can help.
