All eyes on Athboy for Púca Festival's 'An Lasadh Suas' closing ceremony
As Púca Festival 2023 comes to an end, you are invited to gather at the Fair Green in Athboy, a town steeped in Halloween tradition, for the spectacular ‘An Lasadh Suas’ (The Lighting) closing ceremony.
In this symbolic event, a procession led by a master of ceremonies will carry the Tlachtga flame, igniting fire sculptures representing Tara, Loughcrew, Tailteann, and Uisneach. Each landscape’s story will be shared, culminating in the lighting of ‘An Lasadh Suas,’( The Lighting ) setting light to your thoughtful messages, symbolising ancestral connections to help guide us through this winter.
With the Púca flame ablaze, the celebration continues with music and revelry, inviting Irish diaspora and friends to join in the global merriment. Don’t miss ‘An Lasadh Suas (The Lighting) which culminates the 2023 festival, as we bid farewell to another enchanting year. This event begins in the Fairgreen, Athboy on Tuesday, 31st October 2023 at 5.15pm. Note this is a free, non-ticketed event.

The four-day musical and culture extravaganza which burst into life last Friday showcased a stellar line-up that's expected to provide a €3m financial boost for the local economy and attract over 35,000 visitors to the two towns.
Now in it's fifth year, Púca is the immersive festival celebrating Ireland as the original birthplace of Halloween, and was developed by Fáilte Ireland in partnership with Meath Co Council to highlight our unique Samhain heritage and encourage tourists to explore Ireland's Ancient East in the shoulder season.
Programme highlights across the weekend included music acts such as Macy Gray, The Charlatans, The Waterboys, Damien Dempsey, Hot House Flowers, Sharon Shannon, Jack Lukeman, Mack Fleetwood, The High Kings, Bingo Loco, Ennio Morricone Experience and Remembering Joe Dolan on his 15th Anniversary, and Davina Devine Drag Show.
