Woman seriously injured in suspected stabbing in Kiltale

A woman in her forties was seriously injured in a suspected stabbing incident in Kiltale last night.

It is understood that while her injuries are serious, they are not life threatening and she is receiving treatment in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

Trim Gardai have confirmed that a man in his forties has been arrested in relation to the assault and is currently in custody.

They are appealing for any witnesses who were on the R154 Trim Road, Kiltale area between 8.30pm and 9.15pm last night to contact them.

A garda spokesperson said: "A serious assault incident occurred last night the 22nd October 2023, on the Trim Road, Kiltale, Co Meath (R154) between 8.30pm and 9.15pm.

"A female in her 40’s is currently in hospital receiving treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"A male in his 40’s has been arrested and is currently detained at a Garda Station in Co Meath in relation to the assault.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dash cam footage that may have been in the area between the above times to contact Trim Garda Station on 046-9481540. Investigations are ongoing. "
