Dance The Night Away at fundraiser For Kells musician this Friday

A FUNDRAISING night for a well known Kells musician who was left with life changing injuries following an accident will take place this Friday.

Tommie Reilly (49), acquired a brain injury following a car accident in February 2022.

This has been a difficult journey for the loved and the talented musician and his family. Tommie has spent 19 months now in rehabilitation learning to swallow talk and eat again. He is making great steps each new day but needs much more ongoing rehabilitation and therapy and care.

‘Dance The Night Away Fundraiser For Tommie Reilly’ will take place on Friday 13th October in the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells. The event will feature music from Joe Davitt & Band, Brendan McCahey, Ray Murtagh and Colin Harney. Admission is €15 and doors open at 7pm.

John & Neary who are lifelong friends of Tommie are the driving force behind the event this week.

The couple would like to thank everyone that came out to support Tommie at The Carnaross Inn Events last weekend.

"All the Barbie and Kens provided great fun & colour,"said Anne Marie. "Thank you to the excellent DJ Finn Morris, to Cllr Mike Bray and his wife Maureen Bray for coming to support the event and to choose the winning Barbie & Ken," she added.

Saturday night saw the band “whos Eddie” perform in the Carnaross Inn to a great crowd and super atmosphere. On Sunday 24th September was “Drive and Jive for Tommie”.

"This started with tractor/car run which was a very special moment as Tommie’s mother Eileen Reilly was leading the run in her vintage Volvo 144 which was a prize possession of his late father Tom Reilly," said Anne Marie.

" Eileen was accompanied on the day by her daughters Denise & Rosetta, her niece Brigid Farrelly and her chauffeur was her nephew Patrick Farrelly."

Weather was not on their side on Sunday but it did not stop people coming to show support for Tommie and his family.
