On Culture Night, Quiet Music Ensemble will premiere two new works: one by Dublin-based visual artist Rory Tangney and one by Cork dancer Inma Pavon. Involving visual arts, dance and QME's extraordinarily captivating improvised soundscapes, this will be an unusual and profound experience in the Solstice Arts centre, Navan, at 8pm.

'One night for all' as Culture Night 2023 takes place on Friday

Culture Night returns across Ireland on Friday 22nd September and invites everyone to join in, discover and celebrate culture in all its forms. Venues all over the country open their doors, with free events programmed from 4pm till late.

Culture Night in Meath will be celebrated with a variety of events across the county in art centres, community centres, galleries, libraries, cafes, and public spaces.

Culture night will also see the new Swift Cultural Centre opened to the public for the first time. An open night takes place from 7pm-9pm with impromptu performances by Trim Drama Group, Trim Musical Society and Boyne Writers as well as a visual arts showcase.

Highlights from this year’s Meath Culture Night offerings include:

The Story of Me in O’Connors’ Function Room, Farrell St, Kells.

An evening showcasing creativity and the Arts with a range of performers drawn from the rich cultural diversity of the heritage town.

Organised by Kells Art Club. This event is suitable for ages 13+ and will take place from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. No booking required.

Méabh McKenna, Harpist at The BOOK MARKet, Market Street, Kells

As a harpist Méabh McKenna traverses many genres, exploring the use of contemporary techniques, electronics, and multi-genre fusion rooted in traditional Irish music and song collections. Organised by Hinterland Festival of Literature & Arts, Kells.

This event is suitable for all ages and will take place from 4pm to 5pm. No booking is required.

The Paddy Smith Blues Band in O'Rorke's Back Bar, Castle Street, Kells - One of Ireland’s Best Blues Players, and best Harmonica

Paddy Smith feels and plays the Blues like no other! Organised by Hinterland Festival of Literature & Arts, Kells. This event is suitable for ages 18+ and will take place from 9pm to 10.30pm. No booking required.

Samhain Festival of food and culture launch 2023 at the Red Chapel, Kells.

Tales, tunes and tipples to launch the 2023 programme for Samhain festival of food and culture, 2nd-5th November. Meet an eighth generation Bean Feasa (wise woman), and enjoy a local drink and a bite whilst listening to the story how some iconic Irish dishes came to be. Organised by Discover Boyne Valley Flavours. No booking required and all ages are welcome. 7pm to 8.45pm.

A Night of Music with the Irish National Foresters Band outside Supermacs, Kennedy Road, Navan.

The INF band will be holding an outdoor concert on Culture Night performing a variety of music ranging from theme tunes, band marches, 90s pop and modern day music. This event organised by the Irish National Foresters Band Navan will take place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. It is suitable for all ages and no booking is required.

Solstice Arts Centre Moving Words at the Solstice Arts Centre, Navan will combine storytelling and contemporary dance. This event with Selma Daniel requires booking. Carol O'Connor's solo exhibition, Quiet Music Ensemble in the auditorium, also requires booking.

Concert in the Park at The Park, Knocks, Dunshaughlin

The free concert will suit everyone, young and old, with ample room for people to bring deck chairs and picnic blankets. This all ages event is organised by Dunshaughlin Festival Committee and no booking is required. 7.30pm to 9pm.

Pop Up Craft Tent for Kids at Dunshaughlin GAA, Knocks.

The Pop Up Craft Tent on Culture Night encourages creative and artistic fun for children of all ages, organised by Dunshaughlin GAA will take place from 6pm to 7.45pm. Suitable for all ages and no booking required.

Harvest Sculpture with Anita Reynolds in Anitas’ Studio, Ballivor.

Participants will create 3D sculptures of seasonal fruit or vegetables. They will learn basic sculptural techniques in clay, exploring form and texture. One piece will be glazed after the event and collected at a time that suits. This creative event organised by Anita Reynolds will take place from 7pm to 9.30pm. Culture Night, An Evening Of Music & Song from 8.00pm to 10pm at Summerhill Community Centre.

A night of Irish Music & Song performed by local artists. Booking is required for this event.

Designer/sculptor Shane Holland Open Studio from 7pm to 9pm at Shane Holland Design Workshops, Unit 11C, Duleek Business Park.

Shane a master craftsman, designer, and sculptor with over 30 years' experience, will be launching his new sculptures, showing his lighting collections, and offering access to his workshop and gallery on the night.

Visitors to the studio on the night will have a chance to preview the new Ireland/Ukraine sculpture before it leaves to be placed in Athboy. Booking is required for this event.

Dunsany Heritage and Amenity Association present an evening of Irish music and culture at Horace Plunkett Hall, Dunsany. Music, song, and word, reflecting on Turlough O'Carolan, the Irish language, Mary Lavin and Francis Ledwidge, with local musicians and youth group, the Tara Trad Group.

This event begins at 8.30pm.
