Rock Live events make a return to Slane Castle this month

Rock returns to Slane Castle on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September with two outstanding tribute bands venerating iconic acts from past gigs at the Boyne Valley venue.

The Castle Courtyard is the venue and a variety of ticket types are on offer – day, weekend and VIP overnight packages.

It’s like a festival in miniature complete with wood fire barbeque featuring the best of local produce, Slane Whiskey cocktails, and of course, an ice cream van.

Star act on Saturday is Live Forever, the definitive tribute to Manchester super group Oasis who played at Slane twice, supporting REM in 1995 and topping the bill in 2009.

On Sunday the headliners are Thin Az Lizzy set to deliver an explosive night of electrifying classic rock anthems like their set at the very first concert in 1981 supported by a fledgling U2.

Thin Lizzy have a special place in history as Slane rock legends, they were headline act at the very first concert in 1981, supported by a fledgling U2.

Gates open at 2pm each day. On Saturday live music starts with Andy O’Donnell followed by Danny Anderson and headline act Live Forever playing from 9pm.

On Sunday Terry Kavanagh takes to the stage followed by Thin Az Lizzy to rock the night away. The bars serve until the last notes sound when everyone is dancing in the moonlight.

A single day ticket costs €25 and a weekend ticket €35 and free parking is available on a first come first served basis.

For a real rock ‘n’ roll treat stay at Slane Castle on one of the VIP overnight packages including access to Browne’s Bar. Glamping and other accommodation is available locally.
