DAA has lodged planning applications for noise monitoring equipment

The Dublin Airport Authority has lodged two separate planning applications for aircraft noise monitoring equipment in Ratoath and Ashbourne.

Planning permission is being sought for an aircraft noise monitoring terminal on a standalone, tiltable mast structure of 6m in height along with associated works including electricity connection on land adjoining the existing astroturf pitch in the eastern part of Ashbourne Rugby Club grounds at Milltown, Ashbourne.

Permission is also sought in a separate application for the installation of an aircraft noise monitoring terminal on a standalone, tiltable mast structure, also 6m in height, on land adjacent to the existing running track in the western part of the Ratoath Community Sports Complex at Jamestown, Ratoath.

Meanwhile, planning permission was granted last month for a similar noise aircraft noise monitoring mast on land adjoining Summerhill Community Centre in Summerhill.

In an article on its website from March of this year, the DAA rejected any claims that it is in breach of its planning permission. It also stated that the DAA is aware that Fingal Co Council is currently undertaking an investigation into the North Runway planning permission and is fully participating and engaging in this process and that in the meantime they continue "to work closely with the local community regarding any issues they are facing as a result of operations at Dublin Airport."

It also outlined that 18 new noise monitoring terminals (16 fixed and two mobile) are being added to the existing system to enhance tracking of aircraft using Dublin Airport. This is in addition to the 10 fixed and three mobile monitors that are already in place.
