Midsummer Walk from Tara to Slane for Simon Community

On the morning of Saturday next, 24th June at 10am, a group of people will start walking from the Hill of Tara to the Ramparts in Navan and along the River Boyne.

Their immediate aim will be to climb the Hill of Slane about five or six hours later.

The broader objective is to generate funds for the homeless with all proceeds generated doing towards Dublin Simon Community.

"Some who will take part in the walk will jump in for a swim at Slane, others might stop for an ice cream or maybe even a well deserved pint in Boyles!" adds Dr Conor Irwin the Ratoath-based dentist who lives near Garlow Cross and is chief organiser of the walk.

As Dr Irwin noted the problem of homelessness has not improved and has in fact worsened significantly during that time.

"This walk is not just about raising much needed funds for Simon , it is a show of support for the plight of these unfortunate people and a quiet protest that this issue is not going away," he added.
