Gaelic Trí Ghaeilge show the way in Dunshaughlin

Last Thursday evening over 25 women took part in a Gaelic trí Ghaeilge event organised by the Gaelic for Mothers & Others ( G4MO) team at Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels GAA club. A fun filled night took place where the community was invited to take part and give both Gaelic and Gaeilge a go…

Funded by a Ciste Spreagtha grant administered by Conradh na Gaeilge, this was the second year that the G4MO team organised this community event.

The grant helps community groups both inside and outside of the Gaeltacht regions to organise local events to encourage the use of Irish in the community.

Caoimhe Delany, representative of the G4MO group in Dunshaughlin & Royal Gaels said “ the Gaelic trí Ghaeilge event is a great night with the benefits of attracting people to come out and be active, at the same time learning some new words of Irish or practising their cúpla focal which may not have got a run out since their school days, we have fluent speakers in the group as well as plenty who have little or no Irish but this event provides a relaxed and social setting where the emphasis is on craic whilst learning and practising whatever Irish you have”

The group was facilitated by two enthusiastic guest coaches who teach in the Gaelscoil na Rithe, Múinteoir Niamh & Múinteoir Katelyn, ensuring the all participants received top marks for their willingness to learn !

Prizes sourced from local business , Síopa Údar in Rathcairn and The Parcel Concierge in Dunshaughlin were on offer during the evening. A specially designed poster with simple Irish phrases was also distributed so people could practice their cúpla focal nua sa bhaile!
